Gift Life Banner - Tasha's Heart

17 year old Tasha

Christmas 1992

Tasha tells me how important it is to her, that she become an organ & tissue donor.

She wanted to be a donor, but it was especially important to her that someone have her heart.

After she had passed on, I recalled those times when she was a baby how at times I would be struck with a thought that she wouldn't be with us for very long.

When this would happen I would panic, then go to her bedside and put my hand on her little chest, just to feel her heart beat.

Little did I know then, that even though she would die young, that her heart would continue to beat long after she was gone.

Little did I know that her hearts dream, somehow in someway, would come true.

Her dream to one day, find the one she was meant to be with, be married, love and care for 6 children, to travel and so much more.

Yes, we always knew that one day she would give her heart to a young man, but we didn't know it would be in this way.

We are forever grateful and thankful, to those that helped to make her wish come true.

Take care and God bless.

Maria

Essay Tasha - What I would like to be known for?

On that last Monday - Our last conversation.

3 days before Tasha was involved in the collision that took her life.

That night, Tasha and I spoke of many things, about life, death, God and family.

She had many questions for me and I had so many things that I had to convey to her.

But there was something unspoken between us.

  • On my part it was that,
  • I didn't tell Tasha that during our last phone conversation that,
    • a thought had struck me while we were talking and it shook me to my very core!
    • This thought was that, she would have massive head injuries and that she would suffer from brain death.
  • On Tasha's part it was that, she had been having dreams that she was going to die.
It was because of these thoughts that our conversation was so intense on that day.
( I will speak further of this incident at a later time)

This is an essay that Tasha wrote was a result of our conversation.

Tasha wrote this essay while attending Port Moody Senior Secondary School BC
and it was put in the 1993 school yearbook

After our conversation, Tasha wrote 2 essays, I will be including a copy of both of these, along with others, that have been written in her own hand.

God bless and take care.

Maria.

Tasha's Note - the next 12 hours.

After Tasha passed away I found this note that she wrote to herself.
This note still tugs at my heart strings and brings tears to my eyes.

It’s not easy looking at old photos that stir up past memories
but for me I believe it’s a necessary step to help me grow and to move on.

 Best wishes Maria

Last Christmas with her brother and sisters - operation

I'm one of those moms that has, always liked (for the most part) to take pictures of my kids all looking at the camera, but for some reason during this last Christmas I decided to take the photo this way.

When I took this photo, the thought that came to mind was that, no matter what happened when Tasha left and went back to B.C. for school, that she would always be with us watching over us.

It was a strange thought to happen at that time, but this was just the beginning of the strange things that were to happen!

I took this picture, in the living room of our home in Peace River. You will notice that Douglas, Louise and Crystal are all playing the game operation - (a game that Tasha bought her sisters for Christmas that year - 1992)

Every time I look at this picture I think of the irony of it all ----------------------------------------------- that on May 7th in 1993 - she was being operated on, so that others could have her organs and tissues.

Please Note - Over time I will be sharing a bit more about Tasha with pictures and her final words in essays and private writings.

I hope that, in the sharing her story along with my story, it will help you to understand in part what this has been all about.

Adding to all of this, it will be a true blessing for me if, the sharing of our story, helps to ease the hearts of others.

God bless, best wishes
Maria
